Volunteer Opportunities

In order for the Girdwood Forest Fair to be the successful event we all know it to be, we need a host of volunteer effort to assist in a variety activities.
Those activities are as follows:

  • Friends of Forest Fair Work Party
  • Security
  • T-Shirt Booth
  • Information Booth
  • Earth Maintenance
  • ID Checkers in the Biergarten
  • Post Forest Fair Clean -Up Party
  • As Always – Community Support

Friends Of The Forest Fair Work Party
- June 29 & July 30  – Noon until the cows come home.

Prior to the Forest Fair, the Forest Fair Committee hosts a weekend work party to get the Girdwood Fairgrounds ready for the Fair. This includes setting up the music stages, the T-shirt Booth, the Information Booth, painting trash cans, and general clean up of the area. The Committee hosts a BBQ both evenings for all the volunteers who assist.

As always the Friends of the Forest Fair Work Party is the weekend before the Fair.
If you would like to help at Friends of Forest Fair, please contact Terri at terri@where2be.com

Security
Volunteers are needed to work security shifts during Forest Fair hours. These individuals are responsible for keeping the vibe alive, managing vendor parking, and doing whatever tasks ex-Trooper Mike tells you to do.  If you are interested in volunteering for Security, please contact terri@where2be.com.

T-Shirt Booth
Volunteers are needed to work the t-shirt booth during Forest Fair hours. These individuals are responsible for selling Forest Fair t-shirts and other Forest Fair merchandise as well as cash handling.  If you are interested in volunteering for the T-shirt Booth, please contact salmessing@yahoo.com.

Information Booth
Like the Tshirt Booth, the Information Booth needs a volunteer staff for both Saturday and Sunday of the Fair to direct traffic and answer questions. If you would like to help staff the information booth, please contact salmessing@yahoo.com.

Earth Maintenance
The Earth Maintenance crew keeps it clean while getting dirty!  They need volunteers to empty trash cans and recycling bins and generally keep things looking nice.  If you are interested in volunteering with Earth Maintenance, please contact omalleja@gmail.com

ID Checkers at the Biergarten (Age Discriminators)
The Age Discriminators keep beer in the Biergarten and underage drinkers out.  TAM Cards are needed – contact terri@where2be.com.

Post Forest Fair Clean Up Party
After the last cob of corn is laid to rest in the trash, the final band had bid goodnight, and this years Girdwood Forest Fair is in the history books, the post clean up begins. Help is needed to return our fairgrounds to it’s normal state-of-being and all volunteers are asked to be there Monday after the fair at noon until the park is clean.  We are making a party of it!  There will be food and drinks to keep our awesome volunteers running!
